How do I navigate the holidays without compromising my nutrition?

Great question! Got you covered. One of the first things to remember is that it's a holi-DAY not a holi-WEEK. It's easy to stray from the goals you set out for yourself around the time leading up to or after the holiday. Try to keep the straying it to the minimum if you want to adhere to your goals you have set. 

1) Making sure that all the day's other than the holiday, you are sticking with your nutrition goals or at least mostly abiding by the blueprint that you've set out for yourself around day of the holiday gathering. As for the actual day, make a plan that makes sense for you and stick with it, you will feel better knowing you have plan going in.

2) Making sure that your other meals are filled with vegetables and high in protein. This will help to keep you balanced when you eat some things that aren't as healthy for you.

3) Get your fiber in and stay hydrated. That will keep all the systems running on all six cylinders despite eating things that can disrupt the process.

4) Offer to bring food. I'm the first one to sign up for bringing veggies or a salad to any sort of gathering because then I know that I will have things that I can eat.

Finally, try not to be too strict with yourself. Enjoy your meal. After it is over get back to your nutrition goals if that's what you're aiming for.
